Mona Simpson (Mona Jandali) was born on June 14, 1957 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Carole Schieble and Abdulfattah John Jandali are her parents. Mona Simpson is the younger sister of Steve Jobs, Apple CEO.
Mona Simpson and Steve Jobs separated long enough. When Steve Jobs was a baby, Paul Jobs and Clara Jobs adopted him. His parents decided to give their child for adoption because Schieble father very conservative and do not approve their relationship.
However, Abdulfattah Jandali and Schieble finally can get back together and married. After that, Joanne Schieble gave birth to their second child, Mona. When Mona was 4 years old, Jandali decided to return to Syria to pursue a career in the Syrian government. Not wanting to be left far, Schieble decide to divorce then married again with George Simpson.
Schieble later changed her name to Joanne Simpson. Also the youngest Jandali daughter, Mona Simpson. Before publishing her first novel, Anywhere but Here, Mona Simpson attended the University of California, Berkeley. After receiving a BA in English, she later worked as a journalist before moving to New York. In New York, she enrolled at Columbia University and earned her MFA. During that period, she worked as an editor at Paris Review.
Anywhere but Here novel became bestseller in 1987 and later adopted into a movie in 1999. From novel Anywhere but Here, finally the relationship between Mona Simpson and Steve Jobs revealed. Mona and Steve met for the first time when they are adults, when Steve was 32 years. They met at a promotional event Anywhere but Here.
Some novel written by Mona Simpson, among others: Anywhere but Here (1986), Father Missing (1992), A Regular Guy (1996), Off Keck Road (2000) and My Hollywood (2010).
In 1993, Mona Simpson married to television producer and writer Richard Appel and they have two children. Appel is the writer of the famous television series in the United States, The Simpson, and using his wife's name as the name of Homer Simpson's mother.
